Honoring Our Ancestors

This blog is dedicated to the Brewer Family of North Carolina. These pages present our recent family gatherings and more distant family history.
We have an ongoing effort to capture the Brewer genealogy to best honor our ancestors. We've identified our ancestors who moved from Mecklenburg County, Virginia to Orange and Chatham Counties, NC as early as 1750. In the 1800s, we saw a migration to Alexander and Iredell Counties in NC, Tennessee, and Kentucky. By the 20th century our family made their homes all over the nation.

Mary: Welcome to our blog. I will look through our tree to see if any of those names match. We have about 3,000 Brewer family members in our database, and it grows each day. If you are from NC, we have our reunion each year in Iredell County. It likely will be in September this year.

Tom: Welcome to our blog. If you will send me a private email at the address near the top of the page, I can check. Include your father's full name and birth date. I will see if we have him in our descendant data base.

Hi Ron,
My name is Gregg Brewer and I'm sure we are cousins. If you will contact me at chickenhaulerone@aol.com., I will answer a lot of your questions regarding Brewer heritage. Your blog is about Wiley Brewer the son of Benjamin Franklin Brewer. I am from Benjamin's brother Wilson Brewer's line.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Gregg Brewer

Im trying to find the next generation for my Brewers. My Craven County line runs from my mother, Gladys Virginia Brewer (1924 New Bern NC-2012) - Gladys Virginia Jackson (1900 New Bern NC-1993) m. Thomas Christopher "Chris" Brewer b Craven Co - near Vanceboro?? (1895-1953) - Charles R Brewer b Craven Co (1851-1908) - I hit a brick wall at his father William Brewer b Pitt Co (1806-1895); Chris Brewer is buried in the New Bern National Cem; Charles and William are buried in the Brewer Cemetery, Maple Cypress, Craven, NC. Wm may have moved to NC from Virginia. If anyone has a link to this line of Brewers, I would love to hear from you. Thanks for any help, Linda lpinkham@gmail.com

FYI I have found a book on Ancestry named "History of Brewer family of North Carolina, Tennessee, Indiana and Illinois : and McKnight, Galyean (Gallion), Barr, Hutton, ..." I have just started reading to see if my Wm Brewer is connected here.

Linda: I checked my tree for the ancestors you listed in your notes. So sorry, but not one appears in my tree. There were several lines of Brewers many of whom migrated from VA to NC in the latter half of the 1700s. I trust you subscribe to Ancestry.com. Although there are far too many unsourced trees, there are many good connections. Ron
